ペーパーバックに出てくる話し言葉です。
会話口調・口語体というのはとにかく分かりづらいもので、洋書や海外映画・ドラマの理解を妨げる最大の要因といってもいいと思います。
文字通りの意味ではないものが多く、簡単な単語３〜４語で構成されているものは記憶の取っ掛かりすら作れません。

英文の中ではどんどん形も変化するし、意味も文脈によって大きく異なるのでこの表の丸暗記は無意味ですが、それぞれの表現の字面（単語の並び方）に目を慣らしておくだけでも後々確実に効いてきます。
あとはmatterやtakeやcountなど、簡単すぎてあっさりスルーできてしまう単語が“what matters”“what it takes”“what counts”となって登場したときに「おやっ？」と思えるようになるまでひたすら多読あるのみ。
あっさりスルーする多読だからこそ、決まった単語の並びに対して反応できるようになることが重要なのです。
